LA Sanitation (LASAN) It's customer care center is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at 1-800-773-2489. LASAN will pick up items too large for a normal trash bin free of charge. These include items like beds, couches, and fridges.

​Vermont's Universal Recycling Law, Act 148, went into effect on July 1, 2020. It requires food scraps to be kept out of the trash and diverted from the landfill. The only exception is for meat scraps and bones, which may continue to go in the trash if one is composting at home.

Vermont's Universal Recycling Law (Act 148, 2012) mandates separating recyclables, yard debris, and food scraps from trash, banning them from landfills, and requires haulers to offer parallel recycling collection with no separate fee, using "pay-as-you-throw" pricing to encourage reduction. The law phases in disposal bans for these materials (recyclables by 2015, yard waste by 2016, food scraps by 2020) and establishes a Food Recovery Hierarchy, aiming to keep resources out of landfills and conserve energy.
