Singapore's car law centers on the 10-year Certificate of Entitlement (COE), a quota license allowing vehicle ownership, which expires after a decade, requiring owners to either renew it (for 5 or 10 years), sell the car, or deregister it, with renewals costing the Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP) and older cars facing road tax surcharges and eventually no more renewal options after a certain age.

You can import a new goods vehicle directly from the manufacturer or from a country with safety and exhaust emission standards that are higher than or equivalent to Singapore. You can also import a used goods vehicle that is less than 3 years old.

When entering Singapore. You are required to present the vehicle's certificate of insurance, road tax and vehicle registration certificate, together with the vehicle's Autopass card and LTA's VEP approval email, upon request by authorised officers in Singapore.
