It's usually cheaper to drive your car than ship it, especially for shorter distances, as driving costs only cover gas, some food, and basic lodging; however, shipping becomes more appealing if your car's unreliable, you have a luxury vehicle, or you value your time and safety more than the extra expense of a professional service, with longer trips shrinking the cost gap.

Logistics Challenges and Rising Delivery Costs Importing cars into Ukraine has become a complex and expensive process. Border delays, supply chain issues for auto parts, and rising transportation costs have all contributed to further price increases on the secondary market.

However, such goods may not be imported into Russia without the difference in import duty rates being paid. The current customs duty rates on new passenger cars are harmonised and are 30% of the customs value of the car, but not less than 1.2 – 2.8 Euros (EUR) per cubic metre of engine capacity.
