Car/Vehicle Shipping Cost from Maputo to Marrakech

Driving is usually cheaper for shorter distances (under 500 miles), but for long cross-country moves (over 1,000 miles), shipping can become comparable or even cheaper when factoring in gas, food, lodging, and wear-and-tear on your vehicle, making driving better for short trips and shipping often better for long, busy, or difficult trips. The decision balances cost, time, and convenience, as shipping saves you time and adds miles/wear, while driving costs less upfront but adds stress and expenses.

If you bring your own car into Morocco, on arrival you need to present the original vehicle registration documents, insurance certificate and your passport to the customs officer, and complete the vehicle admission form. Photocopies and faxes are not acceptable.

Customs duty (Droits d'importation) This is the main tax you'll pay when the car enters Morocco. It's usually around 17.5% of the car's value. If you're a Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) and over 60, you can get a major reduction on this tax.
