There are two ways you can ship your belongings to Russia: air freight or sea freight. For people moving in a rush, air freight is best. Most cargo planes can travel to Russia from anywhere in the world in only two or three days.

Driving is usually cheaper for shorter distances, but shipping can become comparable or even better for very long trips, especially when factoring in the hidden costs of driving like time off work, wear and tear, potential breakdowns, lodging, food, and tolls. Driving saves on direct shipping fees but adds indirect costs, while shipping costs more upfront but preserves your time and vehicle's condition, making the "cheaper" option depend heavily on your personal financial situation and priorities.

However, such goods may not be imported into Russia without the difference in import duty rates being paid. The current customs duty rates on new passenger cars are harmonised and are 30% of the customs value of the car, but not less than 1.2 – 2.8 Euros (EUR) per cubic metre of engine capacity.
